Members of Arizona's tourism industry gathered to share ideas and recognize their own on Thursday as part of the 2009 Arizona Governor’s Conference on Tourism. Despite a decrease of about 3.3 percent in travelers last year, almost 38 million visitors spent $18.5 billion in Arizona in 2008. And while the tourism industry continues to suffer, posting occupancy and revenue decreases in the first quarter of this year, the sentiment at the conference was not gloom and doom.
